Meet Connie Persike, M.S.,CCC/SLP, Our Founder

My older sister has cerebral palsy. She cannot walk and requires 100% care with tasks such as dressing and feeding. Nobody would think to impose punishments on her because of her physical differences, yet  we do this to individuals with invisible differences every single day. Changing this is my passion.

“If a child doesn’t know how to read, we teach. If a child doesn’t know how to swim, we teach. If a child doesn’t know how to multiply, we teach. If a child doesn’t know how to drive, we teach. If a child doesn’t know how to behave, we. . .  teach? punish?

Why can’t we finish the last sentence as automatically as we do the others?”

“Connie brings a unique insight into the communicative function of behavior. Connie offers our staff exceptional professional support and knowledge, plus coaching and modeling for students with and without disabilities. She has assisted us in developing effective proactive interventions to interrupt extremely negative behavioral patterns.”

“Knowledgeable, flexible, approachable, effective, works with integrity and the best interest of kids at heart. Strong skill set. Communicative. Reasonable. Great relationship builder. Passionate. Just an all-around high quality professional with an incredible skill set.”

“Through working with Connie, I have learned that children don’t need to have an obvious speech-language issue to benefit from the use of visual aids. Connie has taught me how to develop visual aids to assist children with communication, particularly when a child is experiencing distress. I use her strategies in my daily work with children and their families throughout Wisconsin.”

“A rare combination of talent and experience! Connie has the knowledge, understanding, and experience to meet the needs of students with Autism within the framework of a school setting. Her passion, skills, and ability allow her to directly model strategies with the student and to provide coaching for the team as they attempt to implement those strategies.”

“After my first interactions with Connie, I was already so grateful for the lens she was seeing my son through. She was able to see the underlying trauma he had endured during the pandemic and how that affected every aspect of his school experience. Any kind of struggle or challenge he had that she observed was explained in a way that made complete sense to me as a parent and felt very true to his character and personality.”

Supportable Solutions transformed how adults in the Fond du Lac School District work with students and not on students. I have seen many behavioral programs over my 30 year career and none of them focused on changing adult behavior. Supportable Solutions does this in a reflective supportable manner that does not alienate staff. The Fond du Lac School District is proud to partner with Supportable Solutions.
